Eating and weight: life in the Outaouais

Lunch in the building cafeteria or in front of the screen, a late supper after the traffic on the bridges, restaurants in Old Hull and the ByWard Market, comfort from the plate when winter drags on: in the Outaouais too, we often eat fast, late, and without thinking about it.

Many of our clients describe the same thing: they know what they should eat, they have already tried several diets, but the snacking comes back as soon as fatigue or stress sets in. They come from Hull, Aylmer, Buckingham, Cantley, Chelsea and, on the Ontario side, Orléans, Rockland and Ottawa.

Diets, snacking, emotions: what is going on

  • Repeated diets feed a familiar cycle: frustration, giving in, guilt. The body, believing food is scarce, stores more after each diet.
  • Snacking and cravings: the chocolate bar, the bag of chips that vanishes during a show. Automatic habits, often linked to stress or boredom.
  • Emotional eating: anger, sadness or fatigue trigger false hunger, which food soothes for a moment without resolving it.

If you are significantly overweight, see your doctor or a dietitian first; if you recognize yourself in an eating disorder (severe restriction, binge eating, vomiting), talk to your doctor or a psychologist. Hypnosis can support that care, never replace it.

Eating habits in teenagers

In adolescence, habits form quickly: sugary snacks, grazing in front of screens, skipped breakfasts, and a view of their body shaped by social media. Food often serves to soothe boredom, stress or emotions.

Video transcript

A bientôt !

Hypnotherapy is a complementary form of support and does not replace medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If you have any concerns about your health, please consult a physician first.

Clarifying your goal

Rather than aiming for a number on the scale, we start from what really matters to you: more energy, better health, feeling good in your body. Hypnosis supports motivation and perseverance over time.

Calming snacking and sugar cravings

Hypnosis helps you take back control of these automatic habits, ease irresistible cravings and rediscover the pleasure of small, savoured portions, while respecting your fullness.

Stopping emotional eating

Decoding your emotional reactions and eating automatisms, then giving you tools to respond differently: listening to your real needs instead of compensating with food. Combined with a balanced diet and regular physical activity, hypnosis can change your relationship with food for good.

With teenagers

Hypnosis speaks to them naturally: it draws on imagination, in sessions adapted to their age, to ease cravings and change a habit without turning it into a battle. Parents are involved along the way. For any question about weight or growth, talk to your family doctor first.
