Hypnosis for Big Fears in the Gatineau / Ottawa Region
Annie Mayrand sees clients in Gatineau, in Cumberland, and by video.
Fear of flying, driving, heights, animals or being judged: we help you get your freedom of movement back, in English and in French.
Big fears: life in the Outaouais
The bridges over the river at rush hour, Highway 50 in winter, crowds on Parliament Hill or at Winterlude, the country roads of the Petite-Nation or the Pontiac, the flight out of Ottawa: in the Outaouais too, an untamed fear can quickly shrink your daily life.
Many of our clients describe the same thing: they know their fear is out of proportion, but they end up organizing their life around it, avoiding the bridge, the road or the trip. They come from Hull, Aylmer, Buckingham, Cantley, Chelsea and, on the Ontario side, Orléans, Rockland and Ottawa.
Fears, phobias, panic: what is going on
- Fear is useful: it protects us from danger. It becomes a problem when it runs away with us over things that are objectively not very dangerous.
- A phobia is an intense, irrational fear that can trigger strong anxiety, anxiety attacks or panic. The fear, or even the fear of being afraid, becomes uncontrollable.
- Avoidance keeps it going: the more you avoid what scares you, the more room the fear takes. Some fears come from a specific event; others build up this way over time.
If your fear is linked to a traumatic experience, see a psychologist first. Hypnosis can support that care, never replace it.
Fears in teenagers
Fear of speaking in front of the class, of being judged, of exams or of driving when getting their licence: most teenage fears pass, but some settle in and end up limiting outings, sleep or school.
What hypnosis can do for you
Defusing the fear response
Hypnosis is a powerful yet gentle tool for managing fears tied to an object, an animal or a situation. In hypnosis, you go through the dreaded situation in complete safety, until the body stops reacting as if facing danger.
Getting your freedom back
Flying, driving on the highway, taking an elevator, walking through a crowd: the goal is concrete. You leave with anchors and a self-hypnosis exercise to stay calm on the day, before a flight or on the road.
With teenagers
Hypnosis speaks to them naturally: it draws on imagination, in sessions adapted to their age, so the fear loses its grip. They leave with simple tools they can use on their own, and parents are involved along the way. If the fear comes with other difficulties, talk to your family doctor first.

The feeling of release is indescribable. I recommend Annie 1000%! Thank you again for this incredible change in my life. If you only knew the weight of anxiety you lifted off me! 🙏✨ »
Jessica, client of Annie Mayrand
« A huge thank you to Annie who helped me on my long journey toward getting my driver's license. For 10 years I avoided driving because of the fears and anxiety that came over me just thinking about getting on the road. Annie was able to find the blockages and help me free myself from them. It's not just hypnosis, it's also high-quality coaching that she offers her clients. A few months later, here I am with my driver's license! I didn't think it would be possible for me! Thank you so much Annie :) »
